In 2002, Arctic Cat brought a wave of fresh thinking to the snowmobile industry turning the competition’s power-to-weight ratios completely upside down. The all-new lightweight Firecat started a new era of extremely powerful race rockets. Winning speed runs and impromptu drag races from one end of a lake to another, this speed lineage resides stronger than ever inside two of Arctic Cat’s latest 2010 models; the CFR 800 and CFR 1000.

Last year the CFR 800 debuted as the quickest-in-the-quarter-mile, 800-class sled. For 2010 this point-and-shoot lake rocket throws even more horsepower into the equation, thanks to a powered-up 800 H.O. engine with 160hp, that’s perfectly matched to its built-for-speed chassis. The 800 H.O. engine is mostly new and significantly more powerful, with a 4.3-lb. lighter crankshaft that translates into unbelievable, quick-revving acceleration. The 1000cc 2-stroke twin with batteryless EFI produces massive low- and mid-range power, with plenty of top-end, arm-stretching power. Horsepower from both engine packages transfer through the ACT Diamond Drive planetary gearcase and into the ultra-fast 14 x 128 x 1.0-in. Hacksaw track.

At the rear, the Slide-Action suspension is calibrated for quick weight transfer and aggressive bump riding. Same for the AWS front, and both ends are dampened with Fox Zero Pro shocks. New-for-2010, plastic skis are wider, 2 lbs. lighter and offer more bite in the corners. The Lightweight CFR chassis is the ideal platform for this lake burner while offering great aerodynamics, wind protection and fun when the riding turns playful. IRP adjustable handlebars and a tall, rider-forward seat position complete the package.
